If you have ever wondered what the big deal is with puzzles, we are more than happy to tell you just some of the many reasons you should be loving them as much as we do!
1. Puzzles help your child develop their problem solving skills. You might think they are just moving pieces about but a lot of strategizing, figuring out, planning etc is going on in that little mind. These are skills that will see them through to adulthood!
2.Puzzles help children develop fine motor skills and their hand-eye coordination. Your child will be using their pincer grip while picking up pieces – a grip that helps with handwriting amongst other things.
Picking up and discarding pieces are all part of hand -eye coordination ; building up their spatial awareness (knowledge of where things should be including one’s self) that can be used for so many things like learning to drive!
3. Ability to work in a team – yup an essential part of all CVs ???? but really kids putting a puzzle together is a fantastic way to teach them how to work as a team to achieve a goal.
4. The celebration when they succeed is worth it. Your child becomes aware that with concentration and work they can succeed at any thing they put their mind to.
