3 ways to balance Half term and work!

So it’s Half term week! Remember the good old days when it was just a Friday and a Monday? Now its a whole week! We know some of you are scratching your heads wondering how best to balance your work commitments with little ones who need attention and activities to keep occupied.

Well here are 3 ways to achieve this golden balance.

1. Take them to work with you! Yes – if you are your own boss or have a flexible working environment that can allow this, do consider this option. It is so good because it exposes your children to the work space; they get to understand what mummy and daddy do for a living; they get to understand the concept of working to earn a living and you never know – it just might be the spark that ignites your child’s passion!

2. Take time off – Is it possible to take time off work during this period? If you can, great! This is an excellent opportunity to get in on some fun activities with your child without the hassles of school run, work deadlines etc. You can visit places of interest in your city that you might not get to visit every other day. Places like zoos, museums, park etc are fabulous ideas for days out. Or you can just chill at home and indulge in fun educational activities like games and toys etc to help build up skills that you little one might need some help with. Or you can travel – whichever works best for you!

3. Keep them occupied while you are at work – Put in place activities to keep them having fun and learning while you are at work. This eliminates boredom and takes pressure off you while you focus on work. These could be external activities like setting up play dates with friends, sending them to grandma, fun activities like swimming etc or keeping it internal by providing games and activities that ensures your child has a great half term break at home. You can structure this in such a way that your nanny, grandparents or any adult responsible for them can implement easily. (See our previous post on how you can easily achieve this)  https://rhimamory.com/3-ways-your-nanny-can-help-your-child-learn-at-home/

The most important thing to consider is the happiness of you and your child. There is no right or wrong option. Just do whatever works best for you at this time. The emphasis should always be on spending quality time with your child – not quantity time.

Have a wonderful half term and please feel free to share this with someone who might need this!
